PMA concerned over influenza deaths
LAHORE: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is very much concerned over the deaths of 12 patients due to seasonal influenza in Multan and other parts of Punjab. Pakistan Medical Association (Centre) Secretary General Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad informed that this disease is caused by influenza virus. Fever, sour throat, flue, headache, body pain, cough, may be productive, and upper respiratory tract infection are the symptoms of the disease. If these symptoms are not treated properly this can lead to lower tract infection, laryngitis, bronchitis, lungs infection and pneumonia, which could become fatal for the patients.Influenza is a viral disease and it could spread from one person to other. The following precautionary measures should be taken by the general public to avoid complications.
People should take fresh, healthy and balanced diet; take seven to eight hours sleep, plenty of water, complete bed rest if contracted influenza; use tissue papers to clean your nose; do not hug or shake hand with others and do not share your glass, plate, cup, towel, mobile etc, if you are suffering from cold or flu. Furthermore, the patients should not involve in self-medication practice; antibiotic should not be used in any viral disease; and people should get treatment only from qualified doctors.
PU donation: Renowned singer Ali Zafar’s community service organisation, Ali Zafar Foundation, will financially help the needy students of Punjab University. Ali Zafar Foundation honorary adviser Rashid Ahmed said this while handing over a cheque for Rs300,000 for the PU endowment fund.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, Department of Information Management Chairperson Dr Kanwal Amin and PU Acting Treasurer Rao Muhammad Sharif were present on the occasion.
exam: Punjab University on Tuesday announced the schedule for submission of admission fee and forms for BS programme 5th semester examination. According to details, for regular and late college students, the last date for submission of admission forms with single fee is 18 Jan while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 25 Jan.
