He referred to the match played on Wednesday between the UAE and Ireland. “At the end a Pakistan origin batsman made first century on behalf the UAE team. Pakistani must be cherishing it,” he said in lighter vein.
British High Commissioner Phillip Barton was also down while talking about the performance of his team in the World Cup and said that “you never know when a team initially not showing results could stand up and perform”. He recalled that in 1992, Pakistan lost it’s both the opening matches but ultimately proved the winner of the cup.
Sri Lanka High Commissioner Air Chief Marshal Jayalath Weerakkody was also not happy with the performance of his team in the cup and said that South Asian countries should produce match winning bowlers.
