One Pakistan player seeded in British Junior Open
KARACHI: Only one player from Pakistan, Hamza Khan, has been seeded in the British Junior Open scheduled from January 3-7 next year. He is seeded fifth.
Usman Nadeem is seeded 17/32 in the under-13 category, while Mohammad Ammad is unseeded. Pakistan is fielding 14 players in the BJO. Asadullah Khan is seeded 9/16 in the under-15 category, while Junaid Khan and Mohammad Ashab Irfan are unseeded.
In the under-17 category, Haris Qasim, Farhan Hashmi, Naveed Rehman, and Uzair Shaukat are unseeded.In the under-19 category, Abdul Malik, Mansoor Zaman, Mohammad Uzair, and Zeeshan Zeb are unseeded.
No Pakistani entered the newly introduced under-11 category and there is no entry of girls from Pakistan. In the last two years, Egyptians have won six of the eight titles, but with the introduction of the under-11 categories there are 10 titles to be won this time.
The tournament is set to be hosted in Birmingham for the next three years. This year’s event will be one of the biggest in the championship’s history, attracting more than 600 competitors, representing over 30 nations competing in ten age categories.
