LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Senator Sirajul Haq demanded the government implement Fata reforms suggested by Sartaj Aziz committee without further delay as it was the only option to avoid trouble.
Abolition of tyrannical FCR and Fata’s merger in KPK was the only option that could satisfy Fata people, he said while talking to workers at Lahore Airport on Tuesday before departure for London on a 12-day visit. JI Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Asghar was with him. Sirajul Haq said if the government tried to thrust any other illogical solution, Fata people would not accept that. He said it was government’s responsibility to ensure the passage of bill for Fata’s merger by the assembly before December 31. He said rulers had given nothing to the masses except poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and lawlessness.
Educated young men with degrees in their hands were helplessly searching. Agriculture in the country was on decline due to wrong policies of the rulers. India was building dams on Pakistan’s rivers to divert their water to its own land but Pakistani rulers were always keen to please New Delhi in every possible manner. Sirajul Haq said as long as corrupt people remained in power in the country, fate of the nation could not be changed, therefore, masses would have to rise against the corrupt ruling elite and elect honest and competent leadership. Earlier, JI secretary general Liaqat Baloch took oath of acting ameer.
