OKARA: Activists of the Anjuman-e-Mazareen Punjab (AMP) on Tuesday staged a demonstration against the government and police for arresting AMP Renala Khurd Estate president Nadeem Ashraf in a fake case.
Tenants under the banner of the AMP demonstrated at Tank Chowk near the District Complex. They were chanting slogans against the government and police. They were also carrying placards and banners. Later, tenants belonging to Byle Ganj Farms, Pakpattan, Army Welfare Trust Farms, Probinabad, Military Farms, Renala Khurd, Kulyana Estate and Okara Military Farms also joined the demonstration. In the meantime, the DPO held a meeting with the tenants’ leaders, including Mehr Abdus Sattar, in his office. He assured them of conducting investigation of the case on merit. He constituted a committee headed by SP Investigation Farrukh Raza in this regard.
25 BOOKED FOR BLOCKING ROAD: Sadr police have registered a case against 25 people, including six women, for blocking GT road and staging a demonstration against police.
The people belonging to Basti Islampur staged a demonstration against Cantonment police for raiding the house of Naseem Bibi. They also blocked GT Road at Chak 4-L Bridge. The case has been registered under Sections 7 ATA, 16 MPO and 186, 188, 341, 148 and 149 of PPC. Meanwhile, police said that they had raided the house to recover the son of Nazima Bibi from the custody of her husband Irfan. They said that Nazima had filed a petition in a court for recovery of her son.
