LAHORE: PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said he wanted to take along all the opposition parties in the next course of action against the rulers to hold them accountable for Model Town killings.
“I want all decisions to be collective,” he said, adding that the time to seek justice for Model Town victims had finally arrived. He said this while addressing a meeting of the PAT core committee Friday. He said all the opposition leaders he had invited have assured him of participating in the December 28 APC. He said home secretary had refused to provide attested copies of JITs of Model Town incident, under the pressure of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Instead, the home secretary advised the PAT to contact courts.
He said other officers are also under pressure. Those who can’t provide copies, how would they ensure justice for victims? Their resignations are inevitable. Advocates Azhar Siddique, Muhammad Nasir, Sardar Ghazanfar and Najamuddin briefed Tahirul Qadri about the progress in the case.
Qadri said Sharifs announcement of movement against judiciary was treason, adding that the Bar and the Bench must take notice of this declaration of war by Sharifs as both were custodians of judiciary.
He said Sharifs on June 17, 2014 crushed human dignity, and then attacked Khatam-e-Nabuwwat laws, later targeted national security institution through news leaks, now Sharif family was after judiciary.
About resolution in the UN General Assembly regarding status of Jerusalem, he said General Assembly has rejected with overwhelming majority the US decision which is indication of global opinion, now America must respect democratic norms and reconsider its decision to avoid further confrontation.
