LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Thursday announced taking legal action against Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz over their anti-judiciary speeches.
Addressing a press conference here Thursday, the bar leaders gave seven-day ultimatum to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign in the light of Model Town inquiry report.
Bar Secretary Amir Saeed Rawn criticised Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for provoking public against the judiciary. He said Sharifs should tender apology to the public. “Bar is planning to serve legal notice on the Sharif family if they don’t tender an apology over their speeches,” the secretary said.
He also criticised Lahore High Court Registrar Syed Khursheed Anwar Rizvi for destabilising the relation between bar and bench. “Had he not submitted the wrong report to the LHC chief justice, they would have not been any clash between the bar and the bench,” he added.
