Break the gridlock

The ever-increasing number of vehicles that ply the roads of Islamabad has resulted in frequent traffic gridlocks. As a result, the city’s roads have become all the more dangerous and the risk of road accidents has heightened. In addition, pedestrians are also facing numerous problems in crossing roads. With the traffic situation in Islamabad worsening, noise pollution has become a pressing concern.

The government and other concerned authorities are requested to take steps to overcome this problem as soon as possible. Citizens must also learn to cooperate with the traffic police to solve this problem.

The city administration needs to shift its attention towards the traffic jams that continue to inconvenience Karachi’s residents on a daily basis. The roads are packed with vehicles and it has become difficult for people to manoeuvre through the city’s bustling streets and avenues. Construction along various roads has posed hurdles for commuters and added to their woes. Even in the morning, an endless queue of vehicles inch towards their destinations. Everyone appears to be in a hurry and tend to drive fast. Motorcyclists as well as rickshaws and bus drivers are usually the first to break traffic rules and create problems for others. More often than not, the traffic situation prevents people from reaching their destinations on time.

Moreover, it is difficult for an ambulance to pass through the clogged road. The worst traffic jams are witnessed during the evening and people return home after spending several hours in traffic. The relevant department should take steps to ensure that everyone can travel with comfort and the problem of traffic gridlocks can be handled properly.
