Rawalpindi The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Monday organised a Force Commanders Conference at ANF Headquarters, here. ANF Director General Major General Khawar Hanif chaired the conference, a spokesman of the ANF said. The conference was attended by commanders of all regional directorates and senior staff officers. At the onset of the conference DG ANF appreciated all the field commanders and staff officers for making year 2015, a record year of ANF achievements. Appreciation was followed by a critical analysis of year 2014 and futuristic goals of year 2015 were set-forth. During the conference, aspects of enforcement, intelligence, assets investigation, prosecution and other financial cum administrative matters were deliberated upon. Special attention was paid to poppy eradication survey, new initiatives and up-gradation plans, for which timelines for finalisation were clearly defined. Alongside this activity at HQ ANF, ANF field operations continued as usual and conducted seven operations across the country and recovered drugs approximately worth Rs36.8 million in international market. Recovery included 3.4 kilogram heroin, 13.2 kilogram charas and 320 grams Ice (Methamphetamine). During these operations, 9 drug offenders were arrested, including a foreign smuggler. Most of the recovered drugs were destined abroad. ANF Rawalpindi Airport team detained a suspected passenger namely Rora Khan, a resident of Lahore at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 2 kilogram heroin from his trolley bag. The accused intended to take off for Jeddah by Air Blue Airline Flight no. PA-270. ANF Rawalpindi Airport team apprehended a Nigerian national Joshua Godwin Kalu at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of ingested heroin filled capsules. During interrogations, he confessed of having Heroin filled capsules in his abdomen. On his body search, 3 heroin filled capsules were also recovered from his wears. He was to
fly for Ghana via Dubai by Shaheen Airline Flight no. NL-221. The accused was shifted to Benazir Shaheed Hospital for recovery of heroin capsules. ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team during routine checking near Mulla Mansoor Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, recovered 6 kilogram charas from an accused lady namely Bakhat Mina, a resident of Peshawar. Charas was concealed in his luggage. She was arrested from a passenger van bound for Rawalpindi. As per initial investigations, she intended to deliver drug to a local peddler at Rawalpindi. ANF Lahore Airport Team, held 2 suspected passengers Nazim and Shahid Hussain, both residents of Karachi at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. During search of their luggage, 1.4 kilogram heroin was recovered. Heroin was concealed in packs of paan masala. They intended to take off for Dubai by Emirates Airline Flight no. EK-623. As per initial information, the accused Shahid Hussain was to depart for Uganda after landing in Dubai. ANF Peshawar Airport Team during routine checking at Peshawar Airport, arrested an accused Nasar Minallah, a resident of Charsadah, who confessed of having gulped heroin filled capsules. The accused passenger was to fly for Jeddah by Air Arabia Airline Flight no. G9-557. ANF Peshawar Road Check Team, intercepted 2 accused namely Ashiq Ali, resident of Orakzai Agency and Sajid Ali, resident of Kohat along with 7.2 kilogram Charas. Charas was wrapped around the body of the accused. They were taken into custody at Road Check near Kalaya Petrol Pump, Hangu Road Kohat. They were trying to smuggle the drug to Punjab for local consumption.
