MTI Abbottabad doctors defend BoG members sacking
PESHAWAR: Some senior doctors of the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Abbottabad have termed a news item appearing in the press contrary to the facts and an attempt to protect the alleged corruption at the institution.
Through a statement, they said the chief minister had sacked three members of the Board of Governors of the MTI Abbottabad “because they could not act effectively against corruption allegations.”
“Two hospital buildings have remained non-operational for the last four years and substandard equipment was bought ahead of completion of the buildings. It has incurred loss of Rs1 billion to the national exchequer,” the statement claimed.
It added that the accused were influential people and were using different tactics for delaying the court proceedings. “Most of the original record is missing or tampered because all the accused were allowed to stay in executive offices,” it alleged.
The statement said that all employees’ bodies, doctors unions, district council and civil society were united to take the culprits to task.
