KARACHI: Holders Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were off to a flying start when they overpowered Pakistan Ordnance Factories (PAF) Wah Cantt 63-38 in their Group A opener of the 3rd Nishan-e-Haider Circle Kabaddi Cup at Jinnah Stadium, Sadiqabad, on Sunday. In another game of the group, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) overwhelmed Police 46-22. In Group B matches, Army routed Railways 74-17, while WAPDA whacked Punjab 54-37. As many as eight outfits are featuring in the competitions. Two leading teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals. Pakistan Kabaddi Federation’s (PKF) secretary Mohammad Sarwar told ‘The News’ on Sunday that from March 13 to 17, Lyallpur Cup would be conducted at Faisalabad; from April 2-9 National Circle Kabaddi Championship would be staged at POF Wah, in which Iran and Afghanistan would be participating. “India are yet to confirm their entry,” said Sarwar, also secretary of Asian Kabaddi Federation (AKF).
