Opposition parties to support drive for victims’ rights: Qadri
LAHORE: PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said all the opposition parties would be supporting him in the next round of his struggle for the rights of the victims and oppressed people.
“I will show that PPP, PTI, JI, PML-Q, MWM and all those parties believing in the sanctity of human life would be moving along with me,” he said while addressing a lawyers’ convention Thursday at the party secretariat.
Qadri refuted the statement of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq that some ugly plan was being made against the government, and said there was no plan but the divine retribution had begun against the ruling elite for committing mass murders of innocent people. He warned that he had staged two sit-ins in the past, and said if the third was needed it would be decisive. He said Justice Baqar Najafi’s commission had clearly named the killers of Model Town killings, and said lawyers’ morale had actually risen for the next round of legal battle.
The convention adopted five-point resolution demanding Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign accepting their responsibility as indicated by Baqar Najafi report, all bureaucrats and police officials be suspended till the pending of the case, all the accused be arrested and sent to jail till the decision of case, Panama Leaks-like independent and high-powered JIT be instituted for Model Town killings, and a detailed report under 173 CrPC be presented before court after arresting all the accused named in the case.
