Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has appreciated the Supreme Court of Pakistan for taking suo motu notice of the exorbitant fee charged by private medical colleges and the lack of uniform admission policy.
According to a press release issued here Thursday, PMA central secretary general Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad alleged that the federal government and the Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions had influenced the PMDC to make recommendations, including fee-hike and admission policy for 2017-18. Pakistan Medical Association showed its reservations on the recommendations in this regard.
“We demand the Supreme Court of Pakistan that only PMDC should monitor and regulate the medical education in the country, he said, adding that the PMDC should be made independent, autonomous and transparent body to improve the deteriorating standards of medical education in Pakistan.
