LAHORE: Accountability Court Judge Syed Najam-ul-Hassan Bukhari Wednesday awarded three-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 141.368 million to one Shahid Farooq over the charges of cheating public at large.
The court also directed the authorities concerned to confiscate property of the convict. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore had launched an inquiry in April 2014 against convict Shahid Farooq following numerous complaints filed by affectees of Shahid Farooq who used to lure general public in the name of returning handsome profit by investing in sale and purchase of agricultural goods.
During the course of inquiry, NAB acquired solid evidence of cheating public by attaining of hefty amounts over agricultural goods which led to the arrest of Shahid Farooq. Moreover, Shahid confessed of obtaining millions of rupees from innocent people deceitfully.
