Dilip Kumar birthday marked in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: The Cultural Heritage Council, (CHC) with the collaboration of Directorate of Archeology & Museums organised a function to celebrate 95th birthday of the legendary film star Dilip Kumar (Muhammad Yousaf Khan) here at Peshawar Press Club on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, CHC Secretary Shakeel Waheedullah Khan and others recalled that Muhammad Yousaf Khan, popularly known by his screen name, Dilip Kumar, was born to Ghulam Sarwar Khan (Agha Jee) and his wife at Mohallah Khudadaad, at the back of historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar, on December 11, 1922.
He said the living legend had great love for Peshawar and the Peshawarites reciprocated that affection. “That is why we are celebrating his birthday today, keeping intact the past practice,” said the cultural activist.
Saira Bano, the wife of Dilip Kumar, in her telephonic address, thanked the participants and people of Peshawar for their love and respect for the renowned film star and their family. She said Dilip Kumar would address the people and thank them for their love soon after his recovery.
Saira Bano said Dilip Kumar kept the name of Peshawar alive with his excellent performance in the film industry. The participants later cut a cake on the occasion.
