LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said the solidarity expressed by all opposition parties with him after Justice Baqar Najfi report release is primarily confined to the victims of Model Town incident and their families.
Negative propaganda regarding political objectives or anti-government motives was nothing but the rulers’ attempt to mislead masses and evade punishment, he said adding that no amount of propaganda could hinder PAT’s struggle for justice. Addressing a meeting of senior party leaders and legal advisors on Monday, he said legal, political and popular sections must reject all allegations and non-sense statements by rulers regarding Justice Baqar Najfi report. He said representatives of lawyer community from all over the Pakistan would participate in PAT’s lawyer convention, being held on Dec 14. He said after the Lahore High Court rejected narrative of Shahbaz government, it was better he and Rana Sanaullah voluntarily step down; otherwise, Pakistan Awami Tehreek would force them to resign. He said during the meetings with leaders of different political parties, the main issue discussed was the Model Town incident. Every leader unconditionally extended support to PAT’s stand. Justice Baqar Najfi commission unmasked the gory role of Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah, although the former did everything to curtail powers of the commission. He said Justice Baqar Najfi report made Shahbaz sleepless, and he could not negate facts, mentioned in the report. He said he was looking forward to the formation of Panama-like joint investigation team (JIT) on the issue. He said once the JIT was formed, Nawaz Sharif would also be arrested, as he had approved Mushtaq Sukhera’s transfer from Quetta to Lahore to play the gory-drama.
