Losing or winning should be part of the game and should not be taken as a matter of life and death as is the case in our cricket matches against India. We should make ourselves a competent nation to compete with them. In the match against India we put up a team which, from the outset, had no chance of winning the match. Sending Younis Khan as an opener cannot at all be justified. Another blunder was putting Umar Akmal as wicket-keeper. He let us down miserably and was mainly responsible for Kohli’s century and eventually India’s big total.
Unfortunately, favouritism has played a big role in bringing our cricket team to this sorry state. All-rounders like Abdul Razzaq, who played a vital role in the One-Day format, have been unduly shown the door. Even our head coach has failed to perform in the past. We pray that the selection committee puts up the best team out of the available lot to take us to some respectable position in the World Cup.
