PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said the NAB was determined to eradicating corruption from the country with professionalism, integrity and without fear or favour.
After inaugurating a tree plantation campaign at the premises of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa NAB regional office here on Saturday, he said NAB believed in ‘zero-tolerance’ towards corruption. “For the first time, Anti-Corruption Department has been made part of development agenda in the country in the context of governance.
He said the Planning Commission of Pakistan had included a chapter devoted to issues of corruption in the 11th five year plan. “We intend to coordinate with the Planning Commission to achieve the goals set by it,” he added.
Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said during the last one year from January 2013 to December 2014, NAB had recovered Rs4 billion, received 19,816 complaints, authorised 767 inquiries, converted 276 cases into investigations and filed 152 references in the Accountability Court.
The figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations were almost double compared to the same period of October 2012 to September 2013 with 10,414 complaints, 276 inquiries, 84 investigations and 138 references respectively, he said.
He added that NAB had recovered Rs 262 billion from 1999 till now since its inception and deposited in the exchequer.
He said that NAB received 270, 675 complaints, authorized 5,872 inquiries, 2,908 cases were converted into investigations and 2,159 references were filed in different Accountability Courts throughout the country.
