ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former deputy prime minister and Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will meet Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Sunday.
The meeting is part of efforts to forge an opposition parties’ alliance to seek the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif after the Punjab government released the Model Town inquiry report on the orders of Lahore High Court.
Following President PPP Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with Qadri, the Sunday’s meeting is getting importance. A meeting between the PTI and Pak Sarzameen Party on Saturday (today) is seen by political analysts as a step towards formation of an anti-government alliance of opposition parties.
It is to be mentioned that in a telephonic talk with Dr Tahirul Qadri, Shujaat had assured him of full support and said the release of Justice Baqir Najafi report was a welcome step.
He said the heirs of those killed in the tragedy and those injured were still waiting for justice even today and the PML-Q fully supported them on the issue right from the first day.
