FAISALABAD: A passer-by student of a private college was killed during firing by four unidentified people on students of the Government Islamia College over a minor issue outside a local hotel on Thursday.
Reportedly, a first-year student was going to the Government Islamia College when a drunkard hooted at him outside the hotel. When the student started abusing him, the drunkard entered the hotel. On reaching the college, the student told his fellows about the incident. Hearing this, a large number of the students gathered in front of the hotel while the drunkard along with his three accomplices also came out of the hotel and they scuffled with each other. In the meantime, some of the students also started pelting the hotel with stones. Seeing the situation worsening, the four accused managed to escape in a car while resorting to straight firing on the students. As a result, MBA student Imran Ahmad of Gulistan Colony, who was on way home after buying milk, was critically injured. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital where died. Police have started investigation.
COP HELD: Madina Town police have arrested ASI Mehmoodul Hassan on a charge of receiving extortion from vendors.
The policeman under the influence was allegedly receiving extortion from the vendors at Jalvi market on Jaranwala Road. Earlier, the vendors had staged a demonstration against the ASI on the road. A case has been registered.

Two brothers, sister killed in accident

FAISALABAD: Two brothers and their sister were killed in an accident on Chiniot-Sargodha Road near Chenabnagar.
Abdullah (13), his brother Asadullah (7) and sister Fatima (12) were on their way when a dumper hit their motorcycle, killing them on the spot. Police have started investigation after registering a case.
