PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (KP) on Thursday arrested the owner of a firm on the charges of causing loss to the exchequer by supplying substandard equipment at higher rates.
A NAB press release claimed Umar Waqas, owner of Umar & Co, Alfalah Street, Arbab Road, Peshawar, was allegedly involved in huge loss to state exchequer by supplying substandard equipment for science labs, stationery items, uniform, etc at highly exorbitant rates with the
name of fake firms, without adopting genuine bidding process.
The communication claimed the entire process was conducted in violations of rules that caused a huge loss to the exchequer. It is worth mentioning here that Tariq Awan, Secretary Worker Welfare Board (KP) who is the main culprit of this mega scam, has already been arrested by NAB (KP).
