UOE: A two-day follow-up workshop vis-à-vis recent “Peace Conference” started at the University of Education (UOE) here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inaugural session, UOE Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam said being intolerant was not the dilemma of our universities alone rather our society as a whole had become rigid. He emphasised to use polite words while expressing an opinion.
He said the difference of opinion should not lack mutual respect and tolerance at all. In every religion human life has declared the most sacred but in our society. He stressed to minimize differences through constructive dialogue.
Prof Dr Saeed Shafqat said the main purpose of universities should be to encourage open dialogue because it was a key to maintain a balanced society. University of Education Director Students Affairs and Convener Organizing Committee Dr Omer Saleem also spoke on the occasion. The heads of students affairs of all public universities across Punjab are participating in the workshop.
