The inhabitants of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, who were expecting a long summer this year, heaved a sigh of relief as weather on Thursday turned a bit chillier following rain which continued non-stop till the afternoon.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that heavy rainfall would continue till February 24. Cool winds after rains would be expected in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, a PMD official said.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Dr. Muhammad Hanif told 'The News' that the current rain spell will continue till February 24.
He said that the current rain spell will continue in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Sahiwal and Sargodha.
He said that hilly areas, including Murree, Galiyat, Nathiagali and Ayubia would receive heavy snowfall in next 24 hours. He said the westerly waves have entered the country, which would produce scattered rains and thundershowers in Rawalpindi,
Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh and Azad Jammu and
Kashmir.
