Education facilities being expanded: KP CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said his government has completed the establishment of universities at the divisional level and will now spread the tertiary education to district level throughout the province.
He was chairing a meeting on streamlining the affairs of the Buner University at the Chief Minister’s House Peshawar, said an official handout.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Auqaf Habibur Rehman, Advisor to Chief Minister on Higher Education, Mushtaq Ghani, Secretary Higher Education Zahir Ali Shah, Secretary Finance, Shakeel Qadir, Chief Planning Officer, Muhammad Zaman Marwat, Vice-Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University/ Project Director of Buner University, Muhammad Khursheed Khan, Special Secretary to Chief Minister Akhtar Saeed Turk and other authorities concerned.
Pervez Khattak said quality education and efficient educational services were part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf manifesto. He called upon the officials and experts to collectively contribute to the standardization and quality education in the province.
It is pertinent to mention here that university at Buner was initially established as regional campus of the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Later it was upgraded to the status of a full-fledged university, having the capacity to provide educational facilities to 1,000 students.
The meeting focused on different issues that included the allocation of Rs 60 million for the Buner University, the complaints about the substandard construction work of newly established academic block, land acquisition, provision of transport and other facilities to the university. A number of decisions were taken.
The chief minister directed to ensure quality construction and quality education in the university.
He called for forming a committee to look into the complaints of substandard construction work and fix responsibility in this regard. Pervez Khattak said the report should reach him within a week.
He also approved additional facilities.
Meanwhile, the chief minister paid a surprise visit to the Package-I of the Bus Rapid Transit Project. He inspected various construction activities.
Provincial ministers Shah Farman, Mian Jamsheddin Kakakhel, Advisor Ishtiaq Urmarh and other relevant officials accompanied him.
Pervez Khattak was briefed about the construction work, the pace of progress and other aspects of the project at different locations.
The chief minister directed completion of construction work under the already set timeline. He said it was a unique project of public welfare giving one solution to all the traffic problems in Peshawar.
Pervez Khattak ordered to accelerate work on the project. He said efforts should be made to mitigate the problems of the commuters during the construction work.

in time.
