Woman, child among five martyred in Quetta suicide attack

QUETTA: Five people including a woman and a child were martyred in a suicide attack near Saryab bridge here on Saturday, while 21 people including women and children were injured.


Vehicles of the FC had gone to bring Commander Saryab Sector to the office. When they reached the bridge along Saryab Road a suicide bomber


blew himself up close to the vehicles causing a big explosion.


Five people died on the spot while the sixth later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased included a woman as well as a child. As many as 21 people were also injured. They included two women and two children. They were shifted to hospital for treatment.


The explosion shattered the windowpanes of shops and buildings in the vicinity. Two motorcycles, three rickshaws, six vehicles and 2 FC vehicles were badly damaged in the explosion. Police say a security forces’ vehicle was target of the attack. The law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started search operation. —PPI


APP adds: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the attack on the convoy of security forces in Quetta which resulted in the loss of precious lives. He expressed his deep grief and prayed for the departed souls.
