KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan chief Sirajul Haq has said that the responsibility to address Karachi’s issues rests with the provincial and municipal government. He said, however, the provincial and municipal government had completely failed to resolve the issues of the people of Karachi.
He said this while addressing the people in the Kakri Ground here on Sunday. He was addressing a gathering in connection with his public reach campaign here.
The JI chief said: “The people of Karachi are still facing electricity, water, transport and cleanliness issues. Those who repeatedly sought mandate from Karachi’s citizens did not do anything for them. Jamaat-i-Islami has the ability to save people from these issues. The people must support Jamaat-i-Islami.”
Siraj said that delay in elections would not be tolerated in the name of accountability. He further demanded that the process of accountability must not be restricted to one family only, but all the corrupt elements of the society must be taken to task in this drive. He also said that the 435 people listed in the Panama Leaks case must also be held accountable.
The JI chief said: “People who loot national wealth must be severely punished. Any amendment to the Namoos-e-Risalat (peace be upon him) and the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Act will not be tolerated. We will not let any conspiracy succeed. On the other hand, the restoration of real laws in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Act is a positive sign.”
In the end, he said that the people responsible for making changes in the above-mentioned act had not been prosecuted so far as per the government’s promise. He said that the government must fulfil its promise and punish those who are responsible.”
