ISLAMABAD: Prime Minster Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa have been invited by Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia, but no schedule has been finalised about their visit.
The schedule could be announced early this week. Highly placed diplomatic sources told The News here Saturday that it isn’t certain that Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif will company the visiting dignitaries.
It is likely that Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar and some other senior officials will be part of the delegation.
It will visit Saudi capital Riyadh where formal talks would take place. Pakistan’s delegation will have meetings with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the sources said.
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua
has said the Foreign Office has not
been communicated about the schedule of the visit. She said that the visit will help in improving further the existing close ties between the two brotherly countries.
