More rain and thunderstorms are expected in the provincial metropolis after the winter rain brought with it hailstorm on Monday.
Another westerly wave entered Pakistan tonight and is expected to persist in upper parts of the country till Thursday. Scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in upper parts of the country with occasional gaps while at isolated places in north Balochistan and south and central Punjab during Monday to Thursday.
Met Office said the system would be accompanied by a strong westerly weather system which is likely to approach Pakistan through Balochistan on Friday. Under the influence of the system widespread rains associated with isolated thunderstorms are expected in Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions), KP, Kashmir and GB while at scattered places in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob and Kallat divisions), South Punjab (Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan divisions) and upper Sindh (Sukkur, Larkana divisions) during Friday to Monday.
The rain in the provincial metropolis started late on Sunday night around 3:00 am and continued for a couple of hours. Following that, rain continued at regular intervals almost all across the city, while around 4:00 pm, hailstorm lashed the streets of Lahore.
Rain-fed areas of the wheat crop are also expected to receive scattered rain during the period. The minimum temperature in the city, despite the rain and hailstorm did not fall below 13 degree Celsius while the maximum was 22. The coldest spot in the country was Skardu with -5 degree Celsius.
