HARIPUR: The rickshaw drivers union staged protest against the district administration here on Saturday for banning the two-stroke autos in the district. Led by the president Rasheed Abbasi, the rickshaw drivers took out rally from Darband Adda which culminated at Siddique Akbar Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, Rasheed Abbasi, Mian Zahoorul Haq and others said the officials of the Excise and Taxation Department had launched drive against the two-stroke rickshaws and impounded a large number of autos. He said the administration drive led to unemployment to a large number of the poor drivers. Meanwhile, the Excise and Taxation Officer Irfan Mushtaq said the provincial government had banned the two-stroke rickshaws.
