Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday discussed ways and means to promote cooperation between the countries with the projects related to Pakistan-China Economic Corridor being the main focus.
During a meeting, Wang said China would continue cooperating with Punjab in energy, minerals, industry and other sectors. He noted that Pak-China friendship was strengthening with the passage of time.
Shahbaz said the task to explore mineral reserves in Chiniot had been given to a Chinese company in a transparent manner that resulted in discovery of iron, copper and gold deposits within ten months. The Chinese cooperation and role would always be remembered, he added.
He said both the countries had always supported each other’s stance on regional and international issues. During the tenure of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he said, Pak-China friendship was turning into beneficial economic relations as new avenues of cooperation were opening in various sectors.

Shahbaz said a decisive action was being taken against terrorists and the whole nation was standing by the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in the war against terrorism. “It’s the time to take decisive action to root out the menace of terrorism,” he remarked.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure effective implementation of the NAP and said the Punjab government had taken immediate and effective measures, while necessary amendments were also introduced in laws for making sentences more stringent.
He said the nation had resolved to eliminate terrorism, extremism and sectarianism permanently, adding that terrorists and extremists were going to meet their logical end very soon.
Shahbaz said victory was the only option in the war against terrorism which would be won at every cost so as to come up to the expectations of the masses. He said extraordinary measures were being taken in the existing extraordinary situation for protecting the life and property of people, adding that encouraging results were being witnessed
Shahbaz said there was no room for extremism and terrorism in the country ad menace would be rooted out to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state in the real sense.
development: Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said the PML-N government had launched development projects worth billions of rupees for the welfare and betterment of the masses. He said maintenance of transparency, standard and speedy completion of uplift projects was a hallmark of provincial government.
He was presiding over a high level meeting that was attended by provincial ministers Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Iqbal Channar, Malik Nadeem Kamran and Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. PML-N leaders Hamza Shahbaz, Rana Sanaullah and Zaeem Hussain Qadri were also present on the occasion. The chief minister said the PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had provided relief to the people through a record decrease in the prices of petroleum products. He said solid measures had also been taken to reduce transport fares and the prices of essential items in the wake of reduction in the fuel prices.
