ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah Thursday wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, expressing his concern about the reports of change in the original route plan of Pak-China Economic Corridor. “I would like to draw your attention towards an important matter of diverting the route of the Gwadar-Kashghar- Economic Corridor.
As per my knowledge, initially the route had to pass through Balochistan and KP to reach Kashghar in China, but due to the change in the original route plan by the incumbent government now it will pass through the provinces of Sindh and Punjab,” he stated in the latter written to the prime minister.
The opposition leader said original plan needs to be followed in letter and spirit as it will have positive impact on the economy of smaller provinces and underdeveloped areas like Fata while modification in the original plan may raise feelings of disparity and inequality among the affectees. “I shall be grateful if you take notice of this very serious issue and direct the concerned authorities to follow the original plan of Gwadar-Kashghar-Economic Corridor,” he added.
