According to initial feasibility studies, the Mianwali, D I Khan, Zhob, Quetta, Kharan and Gwadar is the shortest and economically viable route, besides lying strategically close to the Central Asian region. Moreover, the area is rich in minerals, which have remained unexplored for centuries due to inaccessible conditions.
Fata and Balochistan are two of our most undeveloped areas. And that is because of the past policies of the successive governments. Altering the route will only increase this economic disparity and the sense of deprivation among the people living in these areas. Now is the time for Balochistan to also have a motorway from Zhob to Gwadar not only because it is of strategic and economic importance to the country but also because it will serve as a good omen for the future of Pakistan.
