Tribesmen want staff for schools

LANDIKOTAL: Elders and students Friday staged protest at Marble Chowk to demand teaching staff for the seven state-run schools built about 10 years ago in different areas inhabited by the Mulagori tribe in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.
The demonstrators were holding placards. They appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to provide teaching and non-teaching staff to the schools and secure future of thousands of children in the area.
Talking to reporters, the tribesmen said they staged the demonstration to raise their voice against the poor performance of the Khyber Agency education officials.
Malik Manan Mulagori and Sebedar Sabz Ali Mulagori said one higher secondary and five primary schools had been constructed in Paindi Lalma in 2002.
They said millions of rupees had been spent on the construction of the schools but still the required staff was not posted there.
Zahid Mulagori, a local journalist, said that the schools for boys and girls were constructed in Lawara Mena, Jawara Mena, Paindi Lalma, Sher Bridge, Tatara and Mian Morcha Azizabad.
However, he added that even the existing teaching and non-teaching staff were not performing duties.
