KARACHI: The Defence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated today with enthusiasm and fervour across the country. The Geo TV and Geo News, which are Pakistan’s biggest and most watched channels, have planned special programmes for this day.
The Defence Day will start in the morning with Quran Khawanis at all mosques, Pak Army units, Naval headquarters and Air Force bases. This will begin after Namaz-e-Fajr, to pray for "Shuhada' and for country’s bright future. The Geo News will also "cover live" floral wreath laying ceremonies at the war memorials and graves of soldiers who laid down their lives defending the country.
The channel would air viewpoints of political and government personalities alongside senior officers of armed forces and general public regarding significance of the day. A special conversation with Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s first Pakistani and Muslim instructor Major Uqbah Malik will also telecast at 4:05pm on Geo News.
Host Ayesha Ehtesham will take the viewers on a tour of PAF Base Minhas. The special programme will be telecast at 4:30, in which the viewers will see various training missions of PAF, bravery and enthusiasm of its officers and airmen, besides various fighter jets and other aircraft.
Geo TV’s morning show, Geo Subah Pakistan will also be a special show. Shaista Lodhi will host this programme at 9am on September 6. At 1pm, a special programme, Geo Hamary Heroes, will be telecast to pay tributes to the national heroes.
Interviews with children of armed forces heroes, injured while fighting with the enemy will also be broadcast. These conversations will be televised so the new generation can draw lessons from the ultimate sacrifice. In this show, soldiers under treatment at the rehabilitation centre in Islamabad will also be interviewed.
