Peshawar lawyers condemn Rohingya genocide
PESHAWAR: Condemning the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) on Tuesday asked the federal government to take up the issue with the United Nations to resolve it forthwith.
“We demand the Pakistan’s government to dispatch food package for the Rohingya refugees. We also urge the Muslim countries to play their role in resolving the issue or else it would destroy the world peace,” PHCBA President Arbab Usman said in a statement.
He said PHCBA would hold its general body meeting today to discuss the issue. Condemning the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Arbab Usman said that it was violation of the international laws to kill, forcibly expel and torch the houses of the people demanding citizenship. He deplored that the entire world was silent on the atrocities being perpetrated against the Rohingya Muslims. The PHCBA chief urged the government, the United Nations and Islamic countries to stop the killings of the Rohingya Muslims and provide them relief to mitigate their sufferings.
MANSEHRA: Condemning the massacre of Muslims in Myanmar, the lawyers here demanded the federal government to raise the issue at the United Nations’ General Assembly. “The lawyer’s fraternity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wants the government to highlight genocide of Myanmar Muslims at United Nations and other such forums, otherwise we would come onto streets,” Shahjehan Khan Swati, the member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, told mediamen here.
He said that the genocide and exodus of Rohingya Muslims was a painful act. “Pakistan is one of the leading Muslim countries in the world and it should get practical steps to rescue Myanmar’s Muslims from genocide by Buddhists,” said Swati.
