This refers to the letter, ‘Removal of hurdles’ (February 5) by Arif Majeed. The deadline set by the Supreme Court for compliance with its orders has passed and yet the people do not know how many of those hurdles have actually been removed or, indeed, if the CDA has complied with the order at all.
The judiciary’s pro-public orders are usually ignored. The judiciary is not taken seriously for the simple fact that there is no accountability in our country. The writer has pointed to the illegal occupation of one entire side of Khayaban-e-Jami in Clifton by the residents of Bilawal House, causing inconvenience to the helpless residents of the locality. All public protests have gone in vain just because the family is ruling Sindh. What is the use of such laudable decisions of the superior judiciary when they are ignored, defied and remain unimplemented by those in power?
