PSA lifts ban on international squash events in Pakistan
KARACHI: The Professional Squash Association (PSA) on Tuesday lifted the ban it imposed on Pakistan’s hosting of international events.
A top official of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) told ‘The News’ that apart from lifting the ban it imposed in February this year, the PSA has also allotted Pakistan some high-prized events, including a $50,000 championship.
“One of the highlights of this decision by the PSA is that it allotted Pakistan one PSA-50 ($50,000) event. We will hold this championship in December this year,” he said.
He added that hosting of international exhibition series against Egypt and World XI in July convinced the PSA and its security consultant firm Sports Risk that Pakistan is a safe country for international events.
A senior official of the PSF went to UK to meet the security firm a few days ago and submitted the security plans prepared for international players coming to Pakistan.Sports Risk officials also came to Pakistan in March to witness the two exhibition series, which convinced them that Pakistan is capable of hosting international events with complete security for foreign players.
