Check point established at Trail V
Islamabad: A check point has been established at the Trail V with an aim to ensure the trekkers and visitors never throw waste material like wrappers, tin packs and plastic bottles in the bushes that can damage the natural character of this green area.
The visitors have to show the food material and other things before going for a walk or trekking and when they return back they also have to produce all the waste material at the check point.
The biological diversity of the Margallah Hills National Park is threatened by human interventions and environmentally unfriendly practices due to which protection of the natural environment is more critical than ever.
Abdul Haseeb Khattak of World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Pakistan) said they have set up the check point at the Trail V after approval from the concerned authorities where they note down the number of products carried by the visitors and when they come back they have to show the waste material of all such products like shopping bags, wrappers and plastic bottles otherwise they face fines up to Rs500.
