PESAHWAR: The Employees of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) continued token hunger strike camp in front of Peshawar Press Club on Thursday.
Speaking at a news conference, general secretary of Nadra Employees Union Gohar Ayub Marwat deplored that they had been on protest at the hunger strike camp for the last four days but no government representative visited them to listen to their demands.
He said there was no proper pay scale and service structure at Nadra which, he said, was one of big revenue generating units of the country.
Similarly, he said, there were no housing scheme and conveyance allowance for the Nadra employees.
The employees warned of extending the protest if the government did not meet their demands at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf provincial spokesperson Ayesha Gulalai Wazir Thursday assured the management cadre of Education Department to take up their case of one-step promotion with the quarters concerned.
Ayesha Gulalai, who is also a member of the National Assembly, held out the assurance when a delegation of the management cadre employees of Education Department met her at the secretariat and informed her of the problems they were facing. The legislator said the PTI-led provincial government has made promotion of education as its top priority.
