Elders want road in Swabi constructed

SWABI: The elders and residents of several villages in Chak Yar Hussain have asked Member National Assembly (MNA) Usman Khan Tarakai and the officials of the district administration to help construct a road.
Speaking at a jirga held at Bakyana village, Gohar Ali, Liaqat Ali, Zawar Khan, Fazal Qadir, Muhammad Rafiq, Maulana Sherzada, Saadullah Khan Advocate, Najmul Haq, Anwar Ali, Habibur Rahman, Nisar Khan, Alamzeb Khan and others said they had been facing severe hardships due to bumpy road from Jaganath village to Harif Khan Killay since long but no elected representative had ever bothered to resolve the problem.
Elders and a large number of residents from several villages, including Bakyana, Harif Khan Killay, Haleem Mian Killay, Muqaddam Shah Killay, Abdur Rasheed Killay attended the jirga. They assured all-out support to the committee formed to resolve the longstanding issue.
“The local leadership of the Awami National Party in its five-year government left a small portion of road in our area unpaved to punish us for our affiliation and support to the Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP).
But the Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan despite being an important coalition partner in the provincial government and remaining in power for about two years is yet to take any practical step to fulfill the demand of the residents,” an elder deplored.
The elders said the people and the students faced problems while taking the patients to hospitals in emergency cases and going to schools due to dilapidated condition of the road.
They said the Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan Member National AssemblyEngr Usman Tarakai and Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai had once launched construction work on the road from Jaganath village to Harif Khan Killay before the 2013 general election.
But the work was suspended later when some landowners opposed it, claiming that their land had been grabbed on the western side of the road.
They said that the
elders convened several jirgas to convince the people to drop opposition to the work and allow construction of
road on the original plan but in van.
The elders appealed to Member National Assembly Usman Tarakai and Swabi deputy commissioner to take note of the issue and conduct demarcation of land for the construction of route according to the original map of roads.
The jirga members also lauded the services of Mian Zubairuddin and Mian Saaduddin for the social welfare activities in the area and development projects being carried out in health and education sectors.
They said the establishment of a middle school for girls would prove a milestone in promoting female education in the area.
