KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair said on Tuesday some elements were trying to create a law and order situation in the city, but the Karachi operation would continue till its logical end and nobody would be allowed to disrupt the peace and tranquility achieved in the recent years after many sacrifices.

“All stakeholders are in the favour of continuing the Karachi operation and it would continue till its logical end. Nobody will be allowed to disrupt peace and create a law and order situation in the city as everybody wants continuity in the process of peace in Karachi,” he said while talking to journalists after inaugurating the 13th Health and Pharma Asia 2017 International Exhibition and Conference at the Expo Centre.

Hundreds of healthcare industry professionals with a large number of the world’s leading healthcare suppliers, manufacturers and service providers are participating in the exhibition to present the latest industry innovations, networks and businesses.

Several public and private health varsities, including the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), medical colleges and health institutions have established their stalls at the event.

Several diagnostic centers providing blood screening services and radiology facilities have also established their stalls at the expo, while several healthcare providers are showcasing the latest advancements in the field of medicine, surgery, diagnostics and rehabilitation.

The governor lauded the organisers for holding such an impressive exhibition at Karachi, which was being attended by local and foreign delegates. He hoped that the exhibition would improve understanding of health issues and availability of health services in Pakistan, especially in the Sindh province.

“This exhibition will present a soft image of Pakistan, especially Karachi in the world and within the country also. There is an immense need to create health awareness among people and I hope that this event would apprise the people of health issues and ways and means for their prevention,” he added.

He maintained that Karachi was the economic hub of Pakistan and the holding of such an impressive event in the city also endorsed the trust and confidence of foreigners in the state and its institutions in maintaining peace in the metropolis.

Terming it an ideal platform for the entire health industry, including the pharmaceutical sector, hospitals, diagnostic centres, health varsities and relations institutions for cooperating with each other, the governor hoped that all these stakeholders would collaborate with each other in providing better healthcare facilities to people at an affordable cost and work together to eliminate disease and misery from our society.

He also visited various stalls and inquired about the facilities and services being offered by the health institutions. A large number of doctors, health educators, pathologists, radiologists, pharmacists and experts from various fields of the health sector are attending the exhibition and showcasing their skills and products at the event, which would continue till Thursday.
