Two dacoits killed in encounter

DASKA: Bombanwala police killed two dacoits in an encounter here on Thursday.
Dacoits, including Imran Butt and Shahid Butt, were robbing people of cash and valuables when a police party reached there while patrolling the area. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. In the meantime, patrol police informed Bombanwala police, which also reached there. During the encounter, Imran and Shahid were killed on the spot while their accomplices managed to escape.
Meanwhile, police registered a case against a man for sheltering a proclaimed offender. Police, on a tip-off, raided the dera of Fayyaz at Wasankey village to arrest proclaimed offender Yousaf but he managed to escape. Police, however, booked Fayyaz.
TWO BIKES STOLEN: Thieves took away two motorcycles in separate incidents here on Thursday. In the first incident, thieves took away the motorcycle of Usman from outside City police station.
In the second incident, thieves stole the motorcycle of Mirza Nadeem from outside the vegetable market.
WOMAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE: A married woman attempted suicide in Sadr police limits.
The woman tried to end her life by swallowing poisonous pills after quarrelling with her in-laws.
