No Pak player manages a title at Asian Junior Squash

KARACHI: Pakistan returned empty handed from Jordan as all 10 players of the country failed to win any title at the 24th Asian Junior Individual Squash Open that concluded the other day.

Mansoor Zaman reached the final of under-19 category, but he lost to top seed Mohammad Al Sarraj of Jordan 11-5, 3-11, 11-7, 3-11, 2-11 in 45 minutes. The match between Abdul Malik of Pakistan and Alireza Shameli of Iran for the third place was not played.

Abbas Zeb secured the fifth position in under-19 category by defeating Chan Wui of Hong Kong 9-11, 11-8, 11-1, 8-11, 11-6. Zeeshan Zeb secured the 13th position by beating Lee Dong Min of Korea 11-6, 11-9, 11-3.

In the under-17 category, Uzair Shoukat took the 12th position as he lost to Hamza Al-Saraj of Jordan 11-3, 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 9-11. In the under-15 category, the match between Asadullah and Danial Gharooni of Iran for the third place was not played.

Ashab Irfan achieved the 11th position by beating Abdel Rahman Ibrahim of Jordan 11-8, 11-4, 13-15, 11-6. In the under-13 category, the match between Huzaifa Ibrahim and Paarth Ambani of India for the third place was not played.

Usman Nadeem got the eighth position when he lost to Tse Jat 5-11, 2-11, 2-11. Hamza Khan grabbed the ninth position by defeating N Lakman of Sri Lanka 11-4, 5-11, 11-6, 11-2. At the previous edition, Abbas Zeb had won boys under-17 title and Asadullah had clinched the under-13 title. Pakistan’s Israr Ahmed had won the 22nd Asian Junior Individual Championship in 2015 by defeating Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia in the final of under-19 category.
