MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has assured All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) that Pakistan is committed to a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute on the basis of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions alone.
The assurance was given by him during a meeting that he had with the APHC delegation here Thursday at Legislative Assembly secretariat after his address to the joint sitting of the Azad Kashmir Assembly and Kashmir Council. The APHC delegation comprised Muhammad Yousuf Naseem, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar and Rafique Ahmed Dar. Kashmir Committee of the Parliament Chairman Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Speaker Sardar Ghulam Sadiq and Leader of the Opposition Raja Farooq Haider were also present during the meeting.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the valiant spirit of the people of Kashmir that had refused to be buckled under intense repressive measures they had been facing for more than 65 years. The premier said Pakistan firmly believed that only a just resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue could bring lasting peace in the region.
The Hurriyat leaders expressed the confidence that government of Pakistan would continue to support the just cause of Kashmiris on international forums. They also appreciated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s commitment with the Kashmir dispute and its resolution on the basis of the UNSC resolutions.
They thanked the prime minister for visiting Muzaffarabad on this day to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
