SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) president Fazal Jilani Wednesday expressed his concern over upto 18-hour power outage in Sialkot city and adjoining areas.
In a statement, he said excessive loadshedding in the district has crippled the industrial and business activities.
He said the export industry of Sialkot was on the verge of collapse and exporters were not fulfilling export orders due to loadshedding.
He said the relevant authorities have been repeatedly requested to take into consideration the plight of the loadshedding-hit exporters and other businessmen of the district.
He said perhaps some anti-state lobbyists were busy in hatching conspiracies against the stability of the country in the form of weakening its export-based industry and economy.
He suggested the government keep a close vigil on such elements and restore electricity for the industrial sector on war footing.
He said cottage industries of Sialkot needed a meager 150 MW power.
He said any delay in the improvement of the situation would result in total collapse of the industry which could end up in massive unemployment, resulting in immense social problems and uncontrolled protests.
He urged the Prime Minister and the Minister of Water & Power to intervene and resolve the power issue as soon as possible.
He said if power situation was not improved, then the business community would have no option left but to come to the streets.
