Special anti-polio campaign launched in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: A three-day special anti-polio drive was launched in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
Around 0.666 million children will be vaccinated against the crippling disease in Swabi, Buner, Haripur and Torghar districts of the province. Earlier, a meeting of Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reviewed the arrangements.
The meeting was chaired by EOC Coordinator Muhammad Akbar Khan while Technical Focal Person BMGF Dr. Imtiaz, Director Extended Programme on Immunisation Dr. Rahim Khattak, others were also in attendance.
The meeting was informed that special campaign was conducted in response to virus transmission in Islamabad-Rawalpindi block. It was said necessary arrangements including strict security measures were taken to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the campaign. A total of 2,379 polio teams including 2,032 mobile, 224 fixed, 113 transit and 10 roaming teams have been formed to conduct the campaign.
