NAWABSHAH: The city was jolted by an earthquake at 2.16am, little after midnight on Tuesday, when people suddenly shaken to wake up from their deep sleep. The frightened people rushed out of their homes to roads, streets and open places. They started reciting loudly the holy Qur’an, while Azans were raised from loudspeakers of Masjids with advice to the people to come out of their houses in the open places. Emergency was announced at the People’s Medical College Hospital, where doctors and nursing staff were summoned. Hospital sources said three extremely frightened people approached the hospital and were discharged after treatment. Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Khursheed Alam visited the hospital and checked the treatment facilities. The intensity of earthquake was known as 4.1 and its epicentre was traced in the snow-covered area of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The impact of the quake was felt in Nawabshah, Buchehry in a radius of 15 kilometres, while no such jolt was felt in other parts of the district.
