LAHORE: Several cable operators on Saturday shut all news channels, including the state-run TV and showed broadcast of only four TV channels on the occasion of rally of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
When the cable operators were asked about this issue, they said that 'you know who was getting these channels shut.' It is pertinent to recall that the broadcast of a big channel had been interrupted for the last four or five days.
The people told ‘The News’ by telephone that only four channels were showing broadcast while all other channels were closed or their broadcasts were interrupted, including state-run TV, and on this complaint the cable operators stopped receiving phone calls at their offices.
While agitating the people complained that such routine had been pursued for the last two days.
They said that the broadcast of TV channels were interrupted or sometime sound was closed.
They said that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority should take notice of this practice.
