Azadi Train reaches Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Special Azadi Train of Pakistan Railways was given a tumultuous welcome here Saturday.

The train had started the journey in connection with the the 70th independence day of the country from Margalla Station in Islamabad and reached the Peshawar Railways Station at 7:30pm.

A large number of people, including young girls attired in white dress and green dupattas, were present at the railways station to welcome the special train.

The train was scheduled to reach the Peshawar Railways Station at 4:30pm but it was three hours late. Anchorperson and social worker Reham Khan was also among the people who had come to welcome the train.

Singers and artistes from all the provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan sang national and folk songs and presented traditional dances. The children also presented tableaus on the occasion.

The specially decorated train would depart from the Peshawar Railways Station for Rawalpindi at 10:30am today.

After passing through all provinces, the train would reach the Karachi Cantonment in Sindh on August 25 at 6pm.
