MANSEHRA: The employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Friday suspended civic services as a protest against the alleged physical attack on a civic body officer.
It was learnt that Tehsil Nazim Khurram Khan, a councillor and his cousin allegedly attacked and thrashed Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Farman Ali Shah at his office.
Following the incident, the civic body employees boycotted duty and staged a protest. The aggrieved officer Farman Ali Shah told the police that Khurram Khan, tehsil councillor city No.3, Umar Farooq and his cousin Mohammad Hanif attacked him after he refused to restore a suspended Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) for establishment of a park.
“They subjected me to physical torture as soon as I refused to reissue the NoC,” he alleged.
He said that he suspended the NOC as it was issued without fulfilling legal formalities which annoyed the tehsil nazim.
Khurram Khan Swati rejected the allegations and instead accused the TMO of attacking and injuring his subordinate.
Local Government Employees Union President Sheikh Zubair said the protest would continue until action was taken against the tehsil nazim.
